Expresses condolences upon the death of Hendrix "Brother" Bourgeois, Sr. A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1 To express the sincere condolences of the Legislature of Louisiana upon the death of2 Hendrix "Brother" Bourgeois Sr.3 WHEREAS, Hendrix "Brother" Bourgeois Sr. was born July 27, 1912, and after a4 long and wonderful life of ninety-eight and a half years, departed this earth on Saturday,5 April 16, 2011; and6 WHEREAS, he was born in Lafourche Parish to Albert Bourgeois Sr. and Helena7 Autin Bourgeois, and later made his home in Westwego, LA, and during his productive8 career worked for the Celotex Corporation, Todd Shipyards, and retired as a ship fitter for9 Avondale Shipyards after twenty-five years of service; and10 WHEREAS, he was devoted to making the city he loved a better place to live by11 being an involved member of the community, including serving as a committeeman and12 Alderman for the City of Westwego, as an usher for Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic13 Church, and as a member of the Ernest Tassin Westwego Senior Citizen group and the14 "Ninety Bunch"; and15 WHEREAS, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of many years, Bertha Duhe16 Bourgeois, his sons Ray Bourgeois and Baron Bourgeois Sr. his father and mother Albert17 and Helena Bourgeois, his siblings Una B. Toups, Alex Bourgeois Sr., Gertrude B.18 SCR NO. 46 SLS 11RS-1451 ORIGINAL Page 2 of 2 Hourcade, Albert "Catfish" Bourgeois Jr., and Robert Bourgeois Sr.; and1 WHEREAS, he is survived by his children Hendrix "Eppie" Bourgeois Sr.,2 Jacqueline "Jackie" B. Morlas, William "Boo" Bourgeois Sr., Sandra B. Vegas, Dewey3 Bourgeois, eleven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and one great great4 grandchild; and5 WHEREAS, all who knew Hendrix "Brother" Bourgeois Sr. will remember him6 fondly as a loving father, husband, and friend, and will be forever grateful for his dedication7 to the community he loved.8 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby9 express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the death of Hendrix "Brother" Bourgeois10 Sr., and does hereby extend enduring appreciation for the pride and honor that this wonderful11 man will forever bring to his family, friends, church, community, and state.12 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the13 family of Hendrix "Brother" Bourgeois Sr.14 The original instrument and the following digest, which constitutes no part of the legislative instrument, were prepared by Jerry J.
