SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 69

COMMENDATIONS. Commends the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts
upon being named one of the "Public Elite High Schools" in America.
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1
To commend the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts upon being named one2
of the "Public Elite High Schools" in America by The Washington Post.3
WHEREAS, the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts (LSMSA) was4
established by the state legislature in 1982, in Natchitoches, Louisiana; and5
WHEREAS, it is the preeminent state supported residential high school for6
Louisiana's high-achieving, highly-motivated students; and7
WHEREAS, the mission of LSMSA is to foster in its young scholars lifelong growth8
toward reaching individual potentialities and toward finding places of work and service in9
a global society through the examination and exchange of ideas in a community of learners;10
and11
WHEREAS, it continues to fulfill its mission statement by providing an exemplary12
educational experience to its students; and13
WHEREAS, the students and faculty at LSMSA deserve the commendation and14
congratulations of the Legislature of Louisiana for the honor they bestow upon the15
community of Natchitoches and the citizens of Louisiana with the academic excellence they16
continuously achieve.17
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby18 SCR NO. 69

commend and congratulate the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts upon being1
named one of the "Public Elite High Schools" in America by The Washington Post.2
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Dr.3
Patrick Widhalm, the executive director of the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the4
Arts.5
