Page 1 of 1 Regular Session, 2011 ENROLLED SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 69 BY SENATOR LONG AND REPRESENTATIVE NOWLIN A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON To commend the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts upon being named one of the "Public Elite High Schools" in America by The Washington Post. WHEREAS, the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts (LSMSA) was established by the state legislature in 1982, in Natchitoches, Louisiana; and WHEREAS, it is the preeminent state supported residential high school for Louisiana's high-achieving, highly-motivated students; and WHEREAS, the mission of LSMSA is to foster in its young scholars lifelong growth toward reaching individual potentialities and toward finding places of work and service in a global society through the examination and exchange of ideas in a community of learners; and WHEREAS, it continues to fulfill its mission statement by providing an exemplary educational experience to its students; and WHEREAS, the students and faculty at LSMSA deserve the commendation and congratulations of the Legislature of Louisiana for the honor they bestow upon the community of Natchitoches and the citizens of Louisiana with the academic excellence they continuously achieve. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend and congratulate the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts upon being named one of the "Public Elite High Schools" in America by The Washington Post. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Dr. Patrick Widhalm, the executive director of the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts.
