SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 98
BY SENATOR MORRISH AND REPRESENTATIVE GUINN 
CONDOLENCES.  Expresses condolences upon the death of Arthur Wesley Eastman.
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1
To express the sincere and heartfelt condolences of the Legislature of Louisiana upon the2
death of Arthur Wesley Eastman.3
WHEREAS, it is with deep regret and profound sorrow that the members of the4
Legislature of Louisiana learned of the death of Arthur Wesley Eastman, on Tuesday, June5
14, 2011; and6
WHEREAS, Arthur Wesley Eastman was a lifelong resident of Jennings; and7
WHEREAS, Arthur Eastman's roots and passion ran deep in farming, family, and8
service; and9
WHEREAS, he was a proud veteran of the United State Navy, an active member of10
American Legion Post 19, and member of the American Legion Hospital board of directors;11
and12
WHEREAS, he dedicated sixteen years of his life as a public servant serving on the13
Jefferson Davis Parish Police Jury; and14
WHEREAS, in addition to his public service, through the years, Arthur Eastman also15
committed his time to The Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Knights of16
Columbus Council 9110 of which he was charter member, and the Roanoke Rice Co-op; and17
WHEREAS, Arthur Eastman loved children and he enriched the lives of so many as18 SCR NO. 98

driver of the "Airplane Bus" for many years; and1
WHEREAS, Arthur Eastman loved nothing more than spending time with his family2
and he also enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and spending time outdoors; and3
WHEREAS, Arthur Eastman was the loving husband to his late wife of sixty-two4
years, Alice, and his wife of one year, Elsie, and the proud father of his four children, twelve5
grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and6
WHEREAS, upon his death the world lost a unique individual who left an indelible7
mark upon the lives of all those who knew him; and8
WHEREAS, with the death of Arthur Wesley Eastman, the state has lost one of her9
finest sons; a man who loved God, his family, his country, and his state; a man who10
considered himself ordinary, but dedicated his life to making the lives of other people just11
a little better; and12
WHEREAS, Arthur Eastman was the kind of person who represents what is good13
about Louisiana, a man of wisdom who used his talents, integrity, and passion to change his14
community and state for the better; and15
WHEREAS, because of his numerous accomplishments in public and private life,16
the death of Arthur Wesley Eastman, has left a void in his community and has created a17
genuine sense of profound sorrow in his friends and family; and18
WHEREAS, the memory of Arthur Wesley Eastman, will remain eternal in the hearts19
and minds of his family, friends, and of all those who knew and loved him.20
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby21
express its sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the death of Arthur Wesley Eastman.22
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution shall be transmitted23
to the family of Arthur Wesley Eastman.24
