SLS 11RS-2280 ORIGINAL Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2011 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 108 BY SENATOR DORSEY CONDOLENCES. Expresses condolences upon the death of Daniel Joseph "Danny" Navarre. A RESOLUTION1 To express the sincere condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana upon the2 passing of Daniel Joseph "Danny" Navarre and to celebrate the rich legacy of3 community service and accomplishment that he leaves to his community.4 WHEREAS, Daniel Joseph "Danny" Navarre was a man of many talents and a friend5 to all, and he passed peacefully from this earth on May 18, 2011; and6 WHEREAS, he was born to Neddie and JoAnn Navarre on November 23, 1952 ; and7 WHEREAS, he was an ironworker by trade and served as a union member and8 officer of Iron Workers' Local No. 623 for many years in the capacities of president,9 business manager, and financial secretary-treasurer; and 10 WHEREAS, Danny Navarre also served the union's members and retirees as a trustee11 of both the Iron Workers' Health and Welfare Fund and its apprentice training fund, and12 remained a close advisor to his brothers in the union until his death; and13 WHEREAS, he was a true leader and a courageous and compassionate person who14 never faltered, and who always did the right thing; and15 WHEREAS, when Hurricane Katrina struck, Danny opened the iron worker's training16 facility to house members displaced by the storm; and17 WHEREAS, Danny Navarre shall best be remembered for his lifelong love and18 SR NO. 108 SLS 11RS-2280 ORIGINAL Page 2 of 2 dedication to coaching Little League Baseball and all that team sports stood for as the1 builder of good character and leadership potential in young men; and2 WHEREAS, he is survived by his wife of thirty-five years, Vickie Bizette Navarre,3 two sons, two grandsons, an extended family, and many loving friends; and4 WHEREAS, it is from a legacy of good works that this servant of the iron work craft,5 husband, father, grandfather, and coach, Danny Navarre, shall be remembered by his6 community, and those he touched shall benefit from his wisdom and kindness, now and into7 the future.8 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana9 does hereby express heartfelt condolences upon the passing of this altruistic gentleman,10 Daniel Joseph "Danny" Navarre.11 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to his12 widow, Vickie B.
