SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 109
BY SENATOR QUINN 
CONDOLENCES. Acknowledges the long and dedicated public and civic service of Ralph
Clarence "R.C." McCormick to his community, state, and nation and to the Louisiana Real
Estate Commission and expresses condolences upon his death.
A RESOLUTION1
To acknowledge the long and dedicated public and civic service of Ralph Clarence "R.C."2
McCormick to his community, state, and nation and to the Louisiana Real Estate3
Commission and to express the sincere condolences of the Senate of the Legislature4
of Louisiana upon his death.5
WHEREAS, it is with great sadness that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana6
has learned of the passing of Ralph Clarence "R.C." McCormick, age eighty-one, on7
Monday, May 16, 2011; and 8
WHEREAS, he retired from the United States Marine Corps with twenty-one years9
service with the rank of major in 1968 after being wounded in Vietnam, having been10
awarded the Legion of Merit with combat V device, Purple Heart and Vietnamese Cross of11
Gallantry with gold star; and 12
WHEREAS, upon returning to Baton Rouge, R.C. McCormick joined the Baton13
Rouge Police Department and the Capital District Law Enforcement Planning Council; and14
WHEREAS, after a run for the office of East Baton Rouge Parish sheriff, he served15
as chief criminal deputy sheriff under Sheriff J. Al Amiss; and 16
WHEREAS, R.C. McCormick went to work for the Louisiana Real Estate17
Commission in 1986 as a hearing examiner, where he developed investigative and18 SR NO. 109

adjudicatory operating procedures, and tirelessly worked for the enhancement of the Real1
Estate and Appraiser industry in this state, continuing to provide counsel and assistance to2
the commission until his death; and 3
WHEREAS, he was a former president of the Federation of Baton Rouge Civic4
Associations; and 5
WHEREAS, R.C. McCormick was a longtime member and supporter of Lions6
International, served on a local level in all areas of responsibility of Lions International in7
various positions, including president of his club and district governor of District 8N; was8
an avid fundraiser for Lions International and in particular, the Lions Crippled Children's9
Camp near Leesville; was a Melvin Jones Fellow, the highest recognition awarded by Lions10
International for lifelong service to the community; and was dedicated to and believed in the11
motto, "We serve"; and 12
WHEREAS, he also enjoyed playing golf as often as he could with friends and13
family at Fairwood Country Club and later at the Oaks at Sherwood; and 14
WHEREAS, R.C. McCormick was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Faye15
McCormick; sister, Charlotte Gumaer; and nephew, Larry Gumaer; and 16
WHEREAS, he is survived by his wife of nearly fifty-nine years, Lucy Jane Smith17
McCormick; son, Michael McCormick and his wife, Evelyn; daughter, Kathy McCormick18
Kedroske and her husband, Kevin Kedroske; and three granddaughters, Emilee, Aimee and19
Kelli Kedroske; and 20
WHEREAS, R.C. McCormick was always smiling, very upbeat, and never met a21
stranger, who touched many lives and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.22
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana23
hereby acknowledges the long and dedicated public and civic service to his community,24
state, and nation as well as to the Louisiana State Real Estate Commission, of Ralph25
Clarence "R.C." McCormick.26
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that sincere condolences are hereby extended to the27
family of R.C. McCormick on the occasion of his death.28
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Jane29
