COMMENDATIONS. Commending William Harold "Billy" Nungesser, Plaquemines
Parish President, for his exemplary leadership during the BP oil disaster.
A RESOLUTION1
To commend William Harold "Billy" Nungesser, Plaquemines Parish President, for his2
exemplary leadership during the BP oil disaster.3
WHEREAS, the magnitude of the BP oil spill in the Gulf region far outstripped the4
dimensions of the Exxon-Valdez spill, necessitating the closure of vast stretches of5
Louisiana's wetlands, seafood hatcheries, and wildlife habitats; and6
WHEREAS, Mr. Nungesser recognized the BP oil disaster was destroying7
Louisiana's marshes and negatively impacting the lives of our fishermen, oil field workers,8
and the entire economy of our state; and9
WHEREAS, his leadership and representation of the residents of Plaqeumines Parish10
never takes a break; and11
WHEREAS, Mr. Nungesser became the voice and face of the numerous residents12
impacted by the BP oil disaster; and13
WHEREAS, Mr. Nungesser showed courage and steadfast leadership as he worked14
with state and local officials across the Gulf Coast in demanding that BP and the federal15
government fulfill their obligations of restoring our coast and the livelihood of our residents.16
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana17
does hereby commend William Harold "Billy" Nungesser, Plaquemines Parish President, for18 SR NO. 12

his exemplary leadership during the BP oil disaster.1
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to2
William Harold "Billy" Nungesser, Plaquemines Parish President.3
