SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 124
BY SENATOR AMEDEE 
COMMENDATIONS.  Commends Dale Hymel Jr. for over thirty years of service to the
citizens of St. James Parish.
A RESOLUTION1
To commend Dale Hymel Jr. for more than thirty years of service to the citizens of St. James2
Parish.3
WHEREAS, Mr. Hymel has been married to the former Debbie Dunn for more than4
thirty years and has two daughters, Marcia and Erin; and5
WHEREAS, he graduated from Lutcher High School and is an alumnus of Louisiana6
State University; and7
WHEREAS, Mr. Hymel has been known as the face of St. James Parish, and a huge8
contributor to steady progress of the entire River Region; and9
WHEREAS, in 1980, he entered public service as the St. James Parish finance10
director, serving twelve years until his election as St. James Parish President in 1992; and11
WHEREAS, throughout his tenure, he has consistently explored new ways to12
enhance St. James Parish while maintaining the trust of its residents; and13
WHEREAS, his public service contributions include but are not limited to,14
development of recreational facilities and programs to benefit area youth and enhance the15
quality of life for St. James Parish constituents, the creation of multiple boards and16
commissions to involve the public in growth and development, and construction of a number17
of new buildings, infrastructure, and facilities; and18 SR NO. 124

WHEREAS, Mr. Hymel has maintained close and positive relationships with the St.1
James Parish Council and all area public officials, while effectively leading the parish2
through multiple natural disasters, most notably Hurricane Katrina and all of its ensuing3
challenges; and4
WHEREAS, along with other public officials, he was instrumental in bringing Nucor5
Steel to St. James Parish, a three-point four billion dollar investment, and one of the largest6
capital projects in the country; and7
WHEREAS, through the success and difficulties, Mr. Hymel has remained loyal,8
compassionate, and a fighter for his family, friends, and constituents; and9
WHEREAS, there is much evidence that in his retirement, Mr. Hymel will spend10
even more time with his wife, Debbie, his two daughters, and numerous grandchildren, while11
also enjoying playing sports, jogging, and attending Louisiana State University football12
games; and13
WHEREAS, as a well-respected leader, and after five terms as St. James Parish14
President, Mr. Hymel leaves a legacy of amazing service, effective leadership, and15
tremendous achievements.16
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana17
does hereby commend Dale Hymel Jr. for his more than thirty years of service to the citizens18
of St. James Parish.19
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Dale20
Hymel Jr.21
