A RESOLUTION1 To express the sincere and heartfelt condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of2 Louisiana upon the death of Chiara "Kay Kay" Modica Nash.3 WHEREAS, it is with great sorrow and regret that the citizens of Louisiana have4 learned of the death of Chiara "Kay Kay" Modica Nash; and5 WHEREAS, she was born July 8, 1974 and was a resident of Delhi, Louisiana in6 Richland Parish and she departed this world on Friday, May 27, 2011 at the tender age of7 thirty-six; and8 WHEREAS, her untimely death was a tremendous loss to her family, friends,9 colleagues, community and to Louisiana; and10 WHEREAS, she was fondly known to friends and family as "Kay Kay" from a very11 young age; and 12 WHEREAS, she was a graduate of Delhi High School and attended Grambling State13 University, and completed her education at the University of Louisiana at Monroe; and14 WHEREAS, she worked at Richland Parish Hospital as a ward clerk, however, her15 duties far extended that of a normal ward clerk, she took information for the Emergency16 Room patients, assisting them moving to their rooms and making every patient she came in17 contact with as comfortable as possible, she happily did anything that was asked of her; and18 SR NO. 125 SLS 11RS-1912 ORIGINAL Page 2 of 3 WHEREAS, she was very active with her community, eagerly and gladly substituting1 at Delhi High School, Delhi Middle School, and Rayville High School, she would substitute2 or volunteer whenever she was called upon even following her grueling and frequent3 Dialysis treatments; and4 WHEREAS, "Kay Kay" often volunteered her time and energy supporting the kids5 and teams of the community at local sporting events, she motivated and supported the6 students as if they were her own children, she attended and even worked the gate at football,7 basketball, and track meets and also assisted in the record keeping at those sports events; and8 WHEREAS, she loved church and worship, she continued to help the youth9 throughout the community while visiting various churches in the area, St. Theresa Catholic10 Church, St. Mary's Catholic Church of Vicksburg, Mississippi, Rocky Mount Zion Baptist11 Church, and Palestine Baptist Church; and 12 WHEREAS, "Kay Kay" was a committed and dedicated citizen of Louisiana who13 worked tirelessly on a multitude of civic, business, community, political, and religious14 causes throughout her life; and15 WHEREAS, not only was she respected and admired in her professional life for her16 determination, work ethic, courage, strength, wit, integrity, and compassion, she was also17 beloved by those in her personal life, she continued to help with her loving mother until her18 mother's recent death and always assisted family and friends with a smile on her face willing19 to do whatever was needed and ask of her; and20 WHEREAS, upon her death the world lost a unique individual who left an indelible21 mark, and with her numerous accomplishments in public and private life, "Kay Kay" will22 forever be remembered, because her legacy of kindness and compassion for others will23 continue to live on with the joy she left in the hearts of all those whose lives she touched.24 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana25 acknowledges with gratitude the many outstanding services and accomplishments of Chiara26 "Kay Kay" Modica Nash and extends sincere regrets and condolences to her family on the27 occasion of her death.28 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the29 family of Chiara "Kay Kay" Modica Nash.30 SR NO. 125 SLS 11RS-1912 ORIGINAL Page 3 of 3 The original instrument and the following digest, which constitutes no part of the legislative instrument, were prepared by Tammy Crain Waldrop.
