Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2011 ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 125 BY SENATOR THOMPSON A RESOLUTION To express the sincere and heartfelt condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana upon the death of Chiara "Kay Kay" Modica Nash. WHEREAS, it is with great sorrow and regret that the citizens of Louisiana have learned of the death of Chiara "Kay Kay" Modica Nash; and WHEREAS, she was born July 8, 1974 and was a resident of Delhi, Louisiana in Richland Parish and she departed this world on Friday, May 27, 2011 at the tender age of thirty-six; and WHEREAS, her untimely death was a tremendous loss to her family, friends, colleagues, community and to Louisiana; and WHEREAS, she was fondly known to friends and family as "Kay Kay" from a very young age; and WHEREAS, she was a graduate of Delhi High School and attended Grambling State University, and completed her education at the University of Louisiana at Monroe; and WHEREAS, she worked at Richland Parish Hospital as a ward clerk, however, her duties far extended that of a normal ward clerk, she took information for the Emergency Room patients, assisting them moving to their rooms and making every patient she came in contact with as comfortable as possible, she happily did anything that was asked of her; and WHEREAS, she was very active with her community, eagerly and gladly substituting at Delhi High School, Delhi Middle School, and Rayville High School, she would substitute or volunteer whenever she was called upon even following her grueling and frequent dialysis treatments; and WHEREAS, "Kay Kay" often volunteered her time and energy supporting the kids and teams of the community at local sporting events, she motivated and supported the students as if they were her own children, she attended and even worked the gate at football, basketball, and track meets and also assisted in the record keeping at those sports events; and SR NO. 125 ENROLLED Page 2 of 2 WHEREAS, she loved church and worship, she continued to help the youth throughout the community while visiting various churches in the area, St. Theresa Catholic Church, St. Mary's Catholic Church of Vicksburg, Mississippi, Rocky Mount Zion Baptist Church, and Palestine Baptist Church; and WHEREAS, "Kay Kay" was a committed and dedicated citizen of Louisiana who worked tirelessly on a multitude of civic, business, community, political, and religious causes throughout her life; and WHEREAS, not only was she respected and admired in her professional life for her determination, work ethic, courage, strength, wit, integrity, and compassion, she was also beloved by those in her personal life, she continued to help with her loving mother until her mother's recent death and always assisted family and friends with a smile on her face willing to do whatever was needed and asked of her; and WHEREAS, upon her death the world lost a unique individual who left an indelible mark, and with her numerous accomplishments in public and private life, "Kay Kay" will forever be remembered, because her legacy of kindness and compassion for others will continue to live on with the joy she left in the hearts of all those whose lives she touched. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana acknowledges with gratitude the many outstanding services and accomplishments of Chiara "Kay Kay" Modica Nash and extends sincere regrets and condolences to her family on the occasion of her death. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the family of Chiara "Kay Kay" Modica Nash. PRESIDENT OF THE SENATE
