Commends Peggy Chautin and Wildie Roberts for eighty-two years of dedicated service with Farmers Merchant Bank & Trust Company. A RESOLUTION1 To commend and congratulate Peggy Chautin and Wildie Roberts for eighty-two years of2 dedicated service with the Farmers Merchants Bank & Trust Company.3 WHEREAS, Peggy Chautin worked for Farmers Merchants Bank & Trust Company4 for forty years, starting as a bookkeeper at the main branch in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, at5 the age of twenty-nine, and also serving as a teller at the main branch during her early years6 with the bank; and7 WHEREAS, in 1972, she moved to the Arnaudville branch and worked as a teller for8 eighteen years before transferring back to the main branch where she trained to be part of9 the lending department and worked as a loan officer for the next four years, 1991-1995; and10 WHEREAS, in January, 1996, Peggy Chautin returned to Arnaudville as a branch11 manager/loan officer and remained there until her retirement on December 31, 2010; and 12 WHEREAS, she is married to Lester Chautin and they have two daughters, three13 sons, eleven grandchildren, and two great-grand children; and 14 WHEREAS, since retirement, Peggy and her husband have enjoyed traveling,15 visiting their children and their families, and regular Bouree' card games with her friends;16 and17 WHEREAS, Peggy Chautin is a life-long resident of Arnaudville, Louisiana, where18 SR NO. 135 SLS 11RS-3076 ORIGINAL Page 2 of 3 she graduated as valedictorian from Arnaudville High School; attended the University of1 Southwestern Louisiana when she began her banking career, and completed the Banking2 Industry Educational Program offered there; and 3 WHEREAS, she is a member of the St. Francis Regis Catholic Church in4 Arnaudville, serves on the Altar Society, and is a trustee of the church; and 5 WHEREAS, Peggy Chautin is a life-long Arnaudville community school volunteer;6 has served as treasurer/accountant for the Arnaudville community Etouffee Festival and as7 a director on the board and treasurer of the Arnaudville Area Chamber of Commerce; and8 is very involved in "Teen City", a community organization with a membership devoted to9 benefitting the community and the town of Arnaudville; and 10 WHEREAS, she was recently honored with the 2011 Female Citizen of the Year11 Award by the Arnaudville Area Chamber of Commerce; and 12 WHEREAS, Wildie Roberts has completed forty-two years of dedicated service for13 Farmers Merchants Bank & Trust Company and will formally retire on June 30, 2011; and14 WHEREAS, she began work at the bank on July 1, 1969, as a teller and was soon15 promoted to head-teller, and as such, became vault keeper; and16 WHEREAS, Wildie Roberts was personally trained by Farmers Merchants Bank17 President, Mr. Thomas Perioux, to handle the accounts payable responsibilities within the18 bank, and in addition, she posted stocks for the bank and took care of all the bank details19 assigned to her by the bank's president; and20 WHEREAS, in 1984, she semi-retired to position of bank teller only, which was "the21 joy of her life" and during her years of service in the banking industry, Wildie loved being22 a teller which allowed her to assist people on a regular basis; and 23 WHEREAS, she has one son, Ed Champagne, Jr. who is married to Kathy24 Champagne and the couple have three children--Angie, Denise and David; and Wildie has25 five great-grand children and is expecting another; and 26 WHEREAS, Wildie Roberts is a past council member for St. Bernard Catholic27 Church in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, and currently serves as a Eucharistic Minster and a28 member of the Catholic Daughters of America, the Altar Society and the St. Bernard Rosary29 Group; and 30 SR NO. 135 SLS 11RS-3076 ORIGINAL Page 3 of 3 WHEREAS, she is also active in the Breaux Bridge Homemakers Club and is a1 outstanding baker and is noted for her specialty cakes: chocolate almond, strawberry, carrot,2 orange mandarin, coconut, triple chocolate and lemon.3 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana4 hereby commends and congratulates Peggy Chautin and Wildie Roberts for eighty-two years5 of dedicated service with the Farmers Merchants Bank & Trust Company.6 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution shall be transmitted7 to Peggy Chautin and Wildie Roberts.8 The original instrument and the following digest, which constitutes no part of the legislative instrument, were prepared by Jerry J.
