SENATE. Recognizes Tuesday, May 3, 2011, as Louisiana Society of Professional
Surveyors Day at the Louisiana State Capitol.
A RESOLUTION1
To recognize Tuesday, May 3, 2011, as Louisiana Society of Professional Surveyors Day2
at the Louisiana State Capitol.3
WHEREAS, Professional Surveying is celebrating its one hundredth and second year4
of licensure, first issuing licenses numbered one, two, and three to J.B. Bice, C.P.5
Couvillion, and R.A. Crowson, respectively, in 1908; and6
WHEREAS, in April 2011 the Louisiana Society of Professional Surveyors hosted7
their Fiftieth Annual Conference; and8
WHEREAS, licensed professional surveyors are compelled to follow rules of9
professional conduct in order to safeguard life and health, to protect property, to promote the10
welfare of the public, and to establish and maintain a high standard of integrity in the11
performance of their professional duties; and12
WHEREAS, licensed professional surveyors at all times recognize that their primary13
obligation is to protect the safety, health, property, and welfare of the public; and14
WHEREAS, licensed professional surveyors are committed to maintaining the 15
highest levels of professional quality and to keeping abreast of the most advanced16
technology in their field, including utilizing global positioning, mapping, and spatial17
referencing, as they seek to ensure that they provide state-of-the-art surveying services to18 SR NO. 26

the citizens of Louisiana.1
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana2
does hereby recognize and commend the Louisiana Society of Professional Surveyors and3
its members across the state for their significant contributions in service to the citizens of4
Louisiana since licenses were first issued in 1908.5
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Tuesday, May 3, 2011, is hereby recognized as6
Louisiana Society of Professional Surveyors Day at the Louisiana State Capitol.7
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the8
Louisiana Society of Professional Surveyors.9
