SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 63
BY SENATOR ALARIO 
A RESOLUTION
To express the sincere condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana upon the
death of Hendrix "Brother" Bourgeois, Sr.
WHEREAS, Hendrix "Brother"Bourgeois, Sr., was born July 27, 1912, and after a
long and wonderful life of ninety-eight and a half years, departed this earth on Saturday,
April 16, 2011; and
WHEREAS, he was born in Lafourche Parish to Albert Bourgeois, Sr., and Helena
Autin Bourgeois, and later made his home in Westwego, and during his productive career
worked for the Celotex Corporation, Todd Shipyards, and retired as a ship fitter for
Avondale Shipyards after twenty-five years of service; and
WHEREAS, he was devoted to making the city he loved a better place to live by
being an involved member of the community, including serving as a committeeman and
Alderman for the City of Westwego, as an usher for Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic
Church, and as a member of the Ernest Tassin Westwego Senior Citizen Center and the
"Ninety Bunch"; and
WHEREAS, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of many years, Bertha
Duhe Bourgeois, his sons Ray Bourgeois and Baron Bourgeois, Sr., his father and mother
Albert and Helena Bourgeois, his siblings Una B. Toups, Alex Bourgeois, Sr., Gertrude B.
Hourcade, Albert "Catfish" Bourgeois, Jr., and Robert Bourgeois, Sr.; and
WHEREAS, he is survived by his children Hendrix "Eppie" Bourgeois, Sr.,
Jacqueline "Jackie" B. Morlas, William "Boo" Bourgeois, Sr., Sandra B. Vegas, Dewey
Bourgeois, eleven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and one great great
grandchild; and SR NO. 63	ENROLLED

WHEREAS, all who knew Hendrix "Brother" Bourgeois, Sr. will remember him
fondly as a loving father, husband, and friend, and will be forever grateful for his dedication
to the community he loved.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby express sincere and heartfelt condolence upon the death of Hendrix "Brother"
Bourgeois, Sr., and does hereby extend enduring appreciation for the pride and honor that
this wonderful man will forever bring to his family, friends, church, community and state.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
family of Hendrix "Brother" Bourgeois, Sr.
