Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2011 ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 80 BY SENATOR ADLEY A RESOLUTION To recognize Tuesday, June 7, 2011, as "Louisiana Industry for Film and Entertainment Day" in the state of Louisiana. WHEREAS, the Louisiana Industry for Film and Entertainment was established in 2010 to further promote and protect the film and entertainment industry in the state of Louisiana; and WHEREAS, Louisiana has become a premiere destination for the film and television industry, live and recorded performances, and the creation of digital media thanks in large part to the state's uniquely integrated and effective tax incentive package; and WHEREAS, Louisiana has developed a state-of-the-art infrastructure, known nationally and internationally for our production, post-production, and recorded and live performance capabilities; and WHEREAS, in 2010, Louisiana experienced its fifth consecutive year of growth for the state's overall entertainment industry; and WHEREAS, Louisiana is quickly becoming a premiere location for all things entertainment, producing more than one hundred various types of productions in 2010 and representing an estimated eight hundred million dollars in direct local spending and nearly one billion four hundred million dollars in total production budgets; and WHEREAS, the entertainment industry represents one of the fastest growing segments of our workforce, increasing employment in this area by over four hundred percent, since the inception of our incentive programs; and WHEREAS, combined with the state's incentive program, the state's healthy business climate, low taxes, competitive labor, and operating costs have created a number of homegrown companies employing thousands of Louisiana citizens; and SR NO. 80 ENROLLED Page 2 of 2 WHEREAS, companies coming to Louisiana will find a skilled workforce of more than one hundred three thousand professionals with backgrounds in production, post- production, software development, and digital media; and WHEREAS, the entertainment industry is helping to establish a new creative class of jobs and an opportunity that serves as a beacon of light to our best and brightest, beckoning them back to Louisiana; and WHEREAS, the Louisiana entertainment industry is essential to the state's economic growth and to its continued economic development. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby recognize Tuesday, June 7, 2011, as "Louisiana Industry for Film and Entertainment Day" in the state of Louisiana. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the Louisiana Industry for Film and Entertainment. PRESIDENT OF THE SENATE
