SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 85

COMMENDATIONS. Commends Glen and Rose Sibley of Livingston upon the celebration
of their Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary, June 10, 2011.
A RESOLUTION1
To commend and congratulate Glenn and Rose Sibley of Livingston, Louisiana, upon the2
celebration of their Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary.3
WHEREAS, Glenn Sibley and Rose Harrell were joined in holy matrimony on4
June 10, 1961, at the First Baptist Church of Livingston, and for fifty years, they have shared5
a vast number of memories and milestones, always together; and6
WHEREAS, the Sibleys fondly remember that fateful day they first met at Sibley and7
Watts Automotive; she had a flat tire and he mustered up the courage to talk to her; thus8
began a romance that has withstood the test of time; and9
WHEREAS, Glenn and Rose have lived all of their married life in Livingston and10
still live in the home they built in 1967; both working and contributing to the betterment of11
their community; and12
WHEREAS, among their successful achievements, Mr. and Mrs. Sibley take the most13
pride in their three sons, Richard Todd, Eddie Glenn, and Daniel Eric, one daughter,14
Media Shon (Dee Dee), their nine grandchildren, and one great-grandchild; and15
WHEREAS, they encouraged their family members to always do their best, Glenn16
and Rose faithfully attended school functions, athletic events, and recreational outings like17
hunting and fishing; and18 SR NO. 85

WHEREAS, Glenn Sibley is a former mechanic and retired millwright associated1
with Millwright Local No. 720; and2
WHEREAS, along with being a full-time mother and wife, Rose worked in retail3
sales, served in both the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office and District Attorney's Office,4
and performed six years of public service as a member of the parish council on aging; and5
WHEREAS, Glenn and Rose Sibley have extensive ties to family and friends6
throughout the community; and7
WHEREAS, the Sibleys are active members of the Beech Ridge Baptist Church; and8
WHEREAS, the Golden Wedding Anniversary of Glenn and Rose Sibley is a joyous9
and auspicious occasion that merits sincere congratulations and best wishes and their10
commitment to each other is a beautiful illustration of lifelong love and devotion, that11
endures as an inspiration to all.12
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana13
does hereby commend Glenn and Rose Sibley upon celebration of their fiftieth wedding14
anniversary and does hereby express enduring appreciation for the tremendous pride and15
honor they bring to their family, friends, community, and the state.16
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does17
hereby extend very best wishes to this wonderful couple for continued happiness and good18
health as they enjoy their future years together.19
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to20
Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Sibley.21
