SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 96
BY SENATOR PERRY 
A RESOLUTION
To commend Tom Voinche for fifty years in broadcasting.
WHEREAS, Tom Voinche has been the voice and face of Acadiana, winning the
hearts of thousands over his fifty-plus year career as a local radio and television personality;
and
WHEREAS, fate would bring him to the broadcasting world at the age of fifteen,
when, in 1961, his father, Tom Voinche, Sr., took a management position at KEUN Radio
station, where he learned the ropes watching the late Karl DeRouen broadcasting news and
sports on the airwaves alongside his father; and
WHEREAS, soon after, while a student at St. Edmund High School in Eunice, he
secured a job working part-time at the radio station under his father, broadcasting sports,
performing live remotes, programming commercials, spinning 45s and 78s, and making
sales; and
WHEREAS, upon graduating from high school, he continued his broadcasting
experience at several other radio stations, and in 1981 purchased his own station, KJJB,
which operated for twelve years; and
WHEREAS, since 1992, Tom Voinche has worked as a news co-anchor on KATC
TV3 in Lafayette and part-time radio host on Saturday mornings on the KBON FM Eunice
station, can be seen at many functions around Acadiana, and is often listed as one of the
main attractions at countless fairs, festivals, and gatherings in the area; and
WHEREAS, although already a master of the broadcasting business, Tom Voinche
returned to school as an adult and received his Master's Degree in Communication at the
University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 2009, and now, despite his busy schedule, teaches
Mass Media Communications three times a week at the university; and SR NO. 96	ENROLLED

WHEREAS, when he's not behind the anchor desk or the classroom podium, or
broadcasting a live remote from one of the many festivities in Acadiana, he spends his spare
time relaxing at his home in Eunice, with Bonnie, his loving wife of thirty-five years, and
his dog, Tater; and
WHEREAS, because of his dedication to the people of Acadiana and the career he
loves so dearly, Tom Voinche has become a trusted face and voice to thousands of admiring
fans over the last fifty years. 
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby commend Tom Voinche, Jr., for fifty successful and happy years in
broadcasting.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Tom
Voinche, Jr.
