[R.S. 1:13(B) and 24:177(E)] Ligi HB No. 1015 Abstract: Specifies that only one member of the La. Motor Vehicle Commission must come from each of the eight commission districts, instead of at least two from each. Present law provides for 18 members of the La. Motor Vehicle Commission, 14 appointed such that at least one, but no more than two, be from eight commission districts providing for geographic representation throughout the state. Requires, from these 14 members, one member to be primarily engaged in the business of lease or rental, one member primarily engaged in the business of sales finance, one member to be primarily engaged in the business of heavy truck sales, and three members to be primarily engaged in the business of recreational products. Provides that the remaining three members be from the public from the state at large and not licensees under the La. Motor Vehicle Commission. Proposed law retains present law except requires only one be appointed from each of the eight commission districts, instead of allowing two from each district.
