MTR VEHICLE/LICEN PLATES: Creates the Free and Accepted Mason prestige license
plate
AN ACT1
To enact R.S. 47:463.155, relative to prestige license plates; to provide for the Free and2
Accepted Mason license plate; to provide for qualified applicants; to provide for3
rules and regulations; and to provide for related matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1.  R.S. 47:463.155 is hereby enacted to read as follows:6
ยง463.155.  Special prestige license plates; "Free and Accepted Mason"7
A. The secretary of the Department of Public Safety and Correction shall8
establish a special prestige motor vehicle license plate to be known as the "Free and9
Accepted Mason" plate, provided there is a minimum of one thousand applicants for10
such plates. These license plates shall be restricted to use on passenger cars, pickup11
trucks, recreational vehicles, and vans. The color and design of the license plate12
shall be selected by the Free and Accepted Mason Ionic Lodge Number 26, provided13
it is in compliance with the provisions of R.S. 47:463(A)(3), and shall include the14
organization's logo.15
B. The prestige plate shall be issued, upon application, to any member of a16
Free and Accepted Mason ionic lodge in the same manner as any other motor vehicle17

present to the office of motor vehicles a membership identification card indicating1
such Free and Accepted Mason ionic lodge membership.2
C. The secretary shall collect an annual royalty fee of twenty-five dollars,3
for the use of the Accepted and Free Mason logo from the applicant and shall be4
disbursed in accordance with Subsection D of this Section.  The department shall5
also collect the standard registration license fee provided for in R.S. 47:463 and a6
handling fee of three dollars and fifty cents. The handling fee shall be retained by7
the department to offset a portion of administrative costs.8
D. The annual royalty fee shall be collected by the department and forwarded9
to the Free and Accepted Mason Ionic Lodge Number 26. The monies received from10
the royalty fees shall be used solely for the purposes of funding philanthropic11
endeavors as the lodge sees fit.12
E. The secretary shall establish rules and regulations as are necessary to13
implement the provisions of this Section, including but not limited to rules and14
regulations governing the collection and disbursement of annual fees, verification15
that an applicant is a member of the organization, the transfer and disposition of such16
license plate, the colors available, and the design criteria.17

handling fee of $3.50 to be retained by the department.
Proposed law provides that the secretary shall adopt rules and regulations to implement the
provisions provided by 	proposed law.
