Regular Session, 2012 HOUSE BILL NO. 1066 BY REPRESENTATIVE BARROW INSURANCE/HEALTH: Requires health insurance coverage of annual screening for sexually transmitted diseases AN ACT1 To enact R.S. 22:1054, relative to mandated health insurance benefits; to require health2 insurance policies, contracts, and plans, including health maintenance organizations;3 to provide coverage for screening for sexually transmitted diseases as a part of an4 insured's or enrollee's annual physical examination; and to provide for related5 matters.6 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:7 Section 1. R.S. 22:1054 is hereby enacted to read as follows: 8 ยง1054. Requirement for coverage of annual screening for sexually transmitted9 diseases10 A. Any health coverage plan specified in Subsection C of this Section which11 is issued for delivery, delivered, renewed, or otherwise contracted for in this state on12 or after January 1, 2013, shall provide coverage for screening for sexually13 transmitted diseases as a part of an insured's or enrollee's annual physical14 examination. Such coverage shall not be subject to any health coverage plan15 deductible and shall not require prior authorization by a health coverage plan.16 B. As used in this Section, "health coverage plan" shall mean any hospital,3 health, or medical expense insurance policy, hospital or medical service contract,4 employee welfare benefit plan, contract or agreement with a health maintenance5 organization or a preferred provider organization, health and accident insurance6 policy, or any other insurance contract of this type, including a group insurance plan,7 a self-insurance plan, and the Office of Group Benefits programs.8 DIGEST The digest printed below was prepared by House Legislative Services.
