CHILDREN/SUPPORT:  Provides relative to suspension of licenses for failure to pay child
support obligations
AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 9:315.47 and to enact R.S. 9:315.46(C), relative to the2
suspension of licenses for failure to pay child support; to provide for modification3
or lifting of suspensions for partial compliance; to provide for reinstatement of4
licenses for partial compliance; and to provide for related matters.5
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6
Section 1. R.S. 9:315.47 is hereby amended and reenacted and R.S. 9:315.46(C) is7
hereby enacted to read as follows: 8
§315.46. Subsequent compliance with support order; compliance and partial9
compliance releases10

C. At the request of an obligor who provides evidence of his ability to12
comply with the support order and who enters into a written agreement with the13
department, the department may issue a certificate of partial compliance requesting14
that the suspension be lifted or modified. The secretary of the department shall have15
the authority to promulgate rules and regulations and take such action as may be16
necessary to implement the provisions of this Section.17
§315.47.  Reissuance of license18
The licensing authority shall issue, reissue, renew, or otherwise extend an19

rules, upon receipt of a certified copy of a compliance or partial compliance release1
from the department.2

Abstract:  Provides for lifting or modification of suspension of a license for failure to pay
child support when the obligor is in partial compliance with the support order, and
provides for reinstatement of a license when the obligor is in partial compliance with
the support order.
Present law provides for the suspension of a license for failure to pay child support to be
lifted when the obligor is in compliance with the support order.
Proposed law retains present law and provides for lifting or modification of a suspension
when the obligor is in partial compliance. 
Present law requires the licensing authority to reinstate a license of an obligor which has
been suspended for failure to pay child support once the obligor is in compliance with a
support order.
Proposed law retains present law and provides that a license shall be reinstated once the
obligor is in partial compliance with the child support order.
