CRIMINAL/BAIL: Provides for the maximum bond which can be set in the Municipal
Court of New Orleans
AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 15:81(H)(1), relative to bond for release of municipal2
ordinances; to provide for an increase in the maximum amount of the bond which3
can be set in the Municipal Court of New Orleans; and to provide for related matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1.  R.S. 15:81(H)(1) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 6
ยง81. Bond for release for violation of municipal ordinances; parole or release of7
prisoners; penalty8

H.(1) In the Municipal Court of New Orleans, no bond for release shall10
exceed ten thirty thousand dollars.11

Abstract: Provides for an increase in the maximum bond which can be set in the Municipal
Court of New Orleans.
Present law provides that the maximum bond which can be set in the Municipal Court of
New Orleans for violations of municipal ordinances is $10,000.
Proposed law increases this amount from $10,000 to $30,000.
