ECONOMIC DEVELOP/DEPT:  Extends sunset for confidentiality of company information
submitted to the Dept. of Economic Development
AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 44:22(F), relative to economic development; to extend the sunset2
for the confidentiality of information submitted to the Department of Economic3
Development; to provide for an effective date; and to provide for related matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1. R.S. 44:22(F) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 6
ยง22.  Economic development negotiations7

F. The provisions of this Section shall be void and have no effect beginning9
with any negotiations that begin on or after July 1, 2012 July 1, 2016.10
Section 2. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not11
signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature12
by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana.  If13
vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become14

Abstract: Extends the sunset for the confidentiality of information submitted to the Dept.
of Economic Development.
Present law provides that records in the custody of the Dept. of Economic Development
pertaining to an active negotiation with a person for the purpose of retaining, expanding, or
attracting economic or business development in the state shall be confidential and shall not
be subject to disclosure under the provisions of the Public Records Law.
Proposed law retains present law.
Present law provides that the provisions of present law shall be void and have no effect
beginning with any negotiations that begin on or after July 1, 2012.
Proposed law changes the sunset date to July 1, 2016.
Effective upon signature of governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action.
