AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 27:44.1(D)(1)(a) and (I), relative to alternative inspections for2
riverboats; to provide with respect to inspection standards utilizing United States3
Coast Guard criteria; to require submission of riverboat gaming vessel certificates4
of compliance be sent to the certain legislative committees; and to provide for related5
matters.6
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:7
Section 1.  R.S. 27:44.1(D)(1)(a) and (I) are hereby amended and reenacted to read8
as follows: 9
ยง44.1. Riverboat inspections; alternative inspections when certificate of inspection10
not issued; inspections for non-certificated vessels11

D.(1) The third-party inspector shall certify to the Louisiana Gaming Control13
Board that the vessel is in compliance with the standards necessary to maintain14
either:15
(a) A United States Coast Guard Certificate of Inspection utilizing the16
inspection criteria in effect at the time of the vessel's original construction,17
applicable waivers approved by the United States Coast Guard, and subsequent18
modifications to the configuration and marine staffing recommended by an approved19
third-party inspector as approved by the Louisiana Gaming Control Board that are20
consistent with United States Coast Guard criteria for the current configuration and21
mooring of the vessel; or22

I. The Louisiana Gaming Control Board shall adopt rules to provide for1
alternate inspections for persons licensed pursuant to the provisions of the Louisiana2
Riverboat Economic Development and Gaming Control Act as provided in Chapter3
4 of this Title. All rules shall be adopted pursuant to the provisions of the4
Administrative Procedure Act and R.S. 27:15(B)(8).  Such rules shall provide for the5
submission within thirty days of receipt by the Louisiana Gaming Control Board of6
each riverboat gaming vessel certificate of compliance to the Senate Committee on7
Judiciary Section "B" and the House Committee on Administration of Criminal8
Justice.9
