State Law Institute AN ACT1 To enact R.S. 24:202(A)(23), relative to the council of the Louisiana State Law Institute; to2 provide for the membership of the council; and to provide for related matters.3 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:4 Section 1. R.S. 24:202(A)(23) is hereby enacted to read as follows:5 ยง202. Council; membership; terms; vacancies6 A. The governing body of the Louisiana State Law Institute shall be a7 council composed of ex officio members and elected members. The ex officio8 members shall be:9 * * *10 (23) Two judges who are members of the Louisiana Council of Juvenile and11 Family Court Judges appointed by the president of the Louisiana Council of Juvenile12 and Family Court Judges or their designees. Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges appoints two judges from that council to the council of the La. State Law Institute. Present law provides for the La. State Law Institute as an official advisory law revision commission, law reform agency, and legal research agency of the state of La. Provides that the governing body of the La. State Law Institute is a council composed of elected members and members who hold certain offices and who are appointed by certain persons. Proposed law retains present law. Proposed law adds two judges to the council. Provides that the additional judges shall be members of the La. Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges appointed by the La. Judicial Council of the National Bar Association, one of whom shall be a judge of a court having exclusive family or family and juvenile jurisdiction, and the other a judge of a court having exclusive juvenile or juvenile and family jurisdiction.
