ASSESSORS:  Provides relative to the salary of the assessor in Lafayette Parish
AN ACT1
To enact R.S. 47:1907(A)(4), relative to assessors; to provide relative to the salary for the2
assessor of Lafayette Parish; to provide for an effective date; and to provide for3
related matters.4
Notice of intention to introduce this Act has been published5
as provided by Article III, Section 13 of the Constitution of6
Louisiana and R.S. 47:1907.1.7
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:8
Section 1.  R.S. 47:1907(A)(4) is hereby enacted to read as follows: 9

(4) The salary of the assessor of Lafayette Parish shall be the salary provided13
for in Subparagraph (1)(a) of this Subsection regardless of the population of14
Lafayette Parish.15

Section 2. This Act shall become effective on July 1, 2012; if vetoed by the governor17
and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become effective on July 1,18

Abstract: Increases the annual salary for the Lafayette Parish Assessor 	from $98,290 to
$108,290.
Present law provides that parish tax assessors shall receive annual compensation based upon
the following compensation schedule depending on the population of the parish in which
they serve:
Population	Compensation
Greater than 250,000 $108,290
50,001 to 249,999 $  98,290
50,000 or less	$  88,290
Proposed law retains present law but provides that the salary of the assessor in Lafayette
Parish shall be the salary of assessors in parishes with a population greater than 250,000.
Proposed law increases the salary of the assessor in Lafayette parish from $98,290 to
$108,290.
Effective July 1, 2012.
