Regular Session, 2012 HOUSE BILL NO. 362 BY REPRESENTATIVE KATRINA JACKSON HEALTH: Requires automated external defibrillators (AEDs) in high schools that participate in interscholastic athletics AN ACT1 To amend and reenact R.S. 40:1236.13(E), relative to automated external defibrillators; to2 require high schools that participate in interscholastic athletics to have an automated3 external defibrillator on their premises; and to provide for related matters.4 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5 Section 1. R.S. 40:1236.13(E) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:6 ยง1236.13. Present law provides relative to possession of automated external defibrillators (AEDs). Provides for training of persons and entities in possession of AEDs and provides for maintenance, testing, and notification requirements regarding the use of AEDs. Requires certain entities to have AEDs on their premises including but not limited to higher education institutions that compete in intercollegiate athletics. Proposed law retains present law and adds that each high school that participates in interscholastic athletics shall have an AED on its premises. (Amends R.S. 40:1236.13(E))
