Regular Session, 2012 HOUSE BILL NO. 374 BY REPRESENTATIVE ARMES MTR VEHICLE/INSPECTION: Changes time limitations on issuance of permits for official inspection stations AN ACT1 To amend and reenact R.S. 32:1305(B), relative to motor vehicle inspections; to delete2 certain provisions of motor vehicle inspection law relative to issuance of permits to3 inspection stations; and to provide for related matters.4 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5 Section 1. R.S. 32:1305(B) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 6 ยง1305. Appointment of official inspection stations7 * * *8 B. Application for permit shall be made upon an official form and shall be9 granted only when the director is satisfied that the station is properly equipped and10 has competent personnel to make such inspections and adjustments and that11 inspection will be properly conducted. The director shall not issue a permit as an12 official inspection station unless the applicant business has been in operation for not13 less than ninety days prior to the issuance. However, if there is no other official14 inspection station for use by the general public within twenty-five miles of the15 business making application, this required prior operation period shall be not less16 than thirty days. Present law provides that a permit shall not be issued for official inspection stations unless the applicant business has been in operation for not less than 90 days prior to the issuance. However, if there is no other official inspection station for use by the general public within 25 miles of the business making application, this required prior operation period shall be not less than 30 days.
