AN ACT1
To amend and reenact Code of Civil Procedure Article 4916, relative to justice of the peace2
courts; to provide for venue; to provide for applicability of rules of venue; and to3
provide for related matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1. Code of Civil Procedure Article 4916 is hereby amended and reenacted6
to read as follows: 7
Art. 4916. Venue; justice of the peace courts 8
The rules of venue provided in Articles 41 through 45, and in Articles 71 ,73, 74,9
75, 76, 77, 78, and through 79 apply to suits brought in justice of the peace court courts,10
except where these articles use the word "parish" it shall be construed to mean the11
territorial jurisdiction of the justice of the peace court.12
