Regular Session, 2012 HOUSE BILL NO. 462 BY REPRESENTATIVE ABRAMSON CIVIL/VENUE: Provides relative to venue for foreign corporations and limited liability companies AN ACT1 To amend and reenact Code of Civil Procedure Article 42(4), relative to venue of foreign2 corporations and limited liability companies; to provide for venue in certain parishes;3 and to provide for related matters.4 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5 Section 1. Code of Civil Procedure Article 42(4) is hereby amended and reenacted6 to read as follows: 7 Art. 42. Present law provides that an action against a foreign corporation or foreign limited liability company licensed to do business in this state shall be brought in the parish where its "primary business office" is located as designated in its application to do business in the state, or, if no such designation is made, then in the parish where its primary place of business in the state is located. Proposed law retains present law except it specifies that the action shall be brought in the parish of the "principal business establishment" of the foreign corporation or limited liability company.
