PORTS/GRAND ISLE: Changes the boundaries set aside for seafood production research.
AN ACT1
To amend and reenact Section 1(A) of Act No. 57 of the 2005 Regular Session of the2
Legislature, as amended by Act No. 79 of the 2007 Regular Session of the Louisiana3
Legislature, relative to the Grand Isle Port Commission; to provide relative to the use4
of certain waters for seafood production research; to provide relative to the5
specification of the boundaries and size of the area in which the research will be6
done; and to provide for related matters.7
Notice of intention to introduce this Act has been published8
as provided by Article III, Section 13 of the Constitution of9
Louisiana.10
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:11
Section 1. Section 1(A) of Act No. 57 of the 2005 Regular Session of the Legislature12
is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:13
Section 1.(A) The Grand Isle Port Commission may use, in accordance with14
this Act, the following described state water bottom, water column, and water15
surface above the specified section of water bottom:16
Approximately twenty-five and one half acres in Caminada Pass, Jefferson17
Parish, Louisiana, circumscribed by lines connecting the following points (projection18
in North American datum, 1983).19
(1) The Northeast corner is located at 29 degrees, 13 minutes, 19.2 22.4520

(2)  The Southeast corner is located at 29 degrees, 13 minutes, 17.4 12.951
seconds North, 90 degrees, 2 minutes, 32.9 28.65 seconds West.2
(3) The boundary shall then run west northwest from the Southeast corner3
to a point 29 degrees, 13 minutes, 14.69 seconds North, 90 degrees, 2 minutes, 32.134
seconds West.5
(4) The boundary shall then run Southwest to the point 29 degrees, 136
minutes, 8.59 seconds North, 90 degrees, 2 minutes, 36.09 seconds West.7

Section 2. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not13
signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature14
by the governor, as provided in Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana.  If15
vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become16
effective on the day following such approval.17

Abstract: Changes the description of the boundaries of an area in which the Grand Isle Port
Commission is authorized to work with the La. Sea Grant program in seafood
production research.
Present law authorizes the Grand Isle Port Commission in conjunction with the La. Sea
Grant program to undertake a seafood production research project in a specified portion of
Caminada pass in Jefferson Parish.
Proposed law changes the boundary description.
Effective upon signature of governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action.
