Judicial District
Court
AN ACT1
To enact R.S. 13:852, relative to court costs in the Twelfth Judicial District Court; to provide2
for additional court costs for criminal cases including traffic offenses in the Twelfth3
Judicial District Court; to provide for use of additional funds; and to provide for4
related matters.5
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6
Section 1. R.S.13:852 is hereby enacted to read as follows: 7
ยง852. Criminal matters; additional costs for clerk of court's office in the Twelfth8
Judicial District Court9
A. In all criminal cases, including traffic offenses, of which the Twelfth10
Judicial District Court has jurisdiction, there shall be assessed as additional costs11
against every defendant who is convicted after trial or who pleads guilty or forfeits12
bond, the sum of twenty-five dollars. These costs shall be in addition to all other13
fines, costs, or forfeitures lawfully imposed and shall be transmitted to the Avoyelles14
Parish Sheriff's Office for further disposition in accordance with the provisions of15
this Section.16
B. The clerk of court shall place all sums collected or received pursuant to17
this Section into an account to be expended by the Avoyelles Parish Sheriff's Office18
to defray the expenses of providing security and bailiffs to the Twelfth Judicial19
