WORKERS COMPENSATION:  Provides with respect to suitable jobs for disabled
employees
AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 23:1226(C)(2), relative to workers' compensation; to provide for2
rehabilitation for injured employees;  to require vocational rehabilitation counselors3
to verify job availability and job descriptions; and to provide for related matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1. R.S. 23:1226(C)(2) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:6
ยง1226.  Rehabilitation of injured employees7

(2) Rehabilitation services provided under this Part shall be delivered11
through a rehabilitation counselor approved by the office.  The approved vocational12
rehabilitation counselor shall verify, by signature, job availability and each job13
description selected for the employee.14

Abstract: Requires that vocational rehabilitation counselors personally verify job
availability and job descriptions for injured employees.
Present law provides that rehabilitation services shall be provided by a vocational
rehabilitation counselor to evaluate and assist the employee in his job placement or
vocational training.
Proposed law retains present law and further requires that the vocational rehabilitation
counselor verify, by signature, job availability and each job description selected for the
employee.
