Regular Session, 2012 HOUSE BILL NO. 624 BY REPRESENTATIVE CHANEY AND SENATORS RISER, THOMPSON, AND WALSWORTH AN ACT1 To enact R.S. 22:821(B)(34) and Part XI of Chapter 5 of Title 22 of the Louisiana Revised2 Statutes of 1950, to be comprised of R.S. 22:1807.1, 1807.2, and 1807.3, relative to3 appraisers; to require registration of certain appraisers with the Department of4 Insurance; to grant regulatory authority to the commissioner; to provide for a5 registration for certain appraisal registrations; and to provide for related matters.6 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:7 Section 1. R.S. 22:821(B)(34) and Part XI of Chapter 5 of Title 22 of the Louisiana8 Revised Statutes of 1950, comprised of R.S. 22:1807.1, 1807.2, and 1807.3, are hereby9 enacted to read as follows:10 §821. The following fees and licenses shall be collected in advance by the13 commissioner of insurance:14 * * *15 (34) For appraisers:16 First time applicant $ 55.0017 Renewal fee (every twelve months) $ 50.0018 * * *19 PART XI. REGISTRATION OF APPRAISERS FOR FIRE20 AND EXTENDED COVERAGE21 §1807.1. Registration required22 A. B. Each person shall register with the commissioner on a form to be1 prescribed by the commissioner and shall pay the fee required by R.S.2 22:821(B)(34).3 C. Each registration submitted pursuant to this Part shall expire each year on4 the anniversary date and may be renewed by filing a request for renewal on a form5 to be prescribed by the commissioner and by paying the renewal fee required by R.S.6 22:821(B)(34).7 §1807.2. Rules and regulations8 The commissioner of insurance is hereby authorized to adopt such9 regulations, in accordance with the Administrative Procedure Act, as are necessary10 to effectuate the requirements of this Part to regulate registration of appraisers for11 fire and extended coverage.12 §1807.3. Enforcement13 The commissioner is hereby authorized to take whichever actions are14 necessary or appropriate to enforce the provisions of this Part and the commissioner's15 regulations. The commissioner may order a person to cease and desist from16 committing violations of this Part or the commissioner's regulations or may issue an17 order prohibiting a person from acting as an appraiser and may rescind the18 registration of any person, if the person has violated this Part or the commissioner's19 regulations or orders.20 SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATI VES PRESIDENT OF THE SENATE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF LOUISIANA APPROVED:
