SECRETARY OF STATE: Authorizes the secretary of state to charge a fee for filing
franchise applications and issuing certificates to those offering cable or video service
AN ACT1
To enact R.S. 49:222(B)(13), relative to the powers of the secretary of state; to provide2
relative to the fees chargeable by the secretary of state; to authorize fees relative to3
cable service or video service; and to provide for related matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1. R.S. 49:222(B)(13) is hereby enacted to read as follows: 6

B.  The secretary of state is authorized to collect the following fees:9

(13) Sixty dollars for filing applications for state franchises and issuing11
certificates to offer cable service or video service in this state.12
Section 2. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not13
signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature14
by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana.  If15
vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become16

Abstract: Authorizes the secretary of state to charge a fee of $60 for filing applications and
issuing certificates to offer cable service or video service in the state.
Present law authorizes the secretary of state to determine and collect, in accordance with the
Administrative Procedure Act, such fees as are reasonably necessary to carry out the duties
of the office. Requires the secretary of state to publish a listing of such fees annually in the
journal of the state.  Proposed law retains present law.
Proposed law authorizes the secretary of state to collect a fee of $60 for filing applications
and issuing certificates to offer cable service or video service in the state.  
Effective upon signature of governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action.
