MTR VEHICLE/LICEN PLATES: Creates the Town of Ball 40

  Anniversary Prestige
License Plate
AN ACT1
To enact R.S. 47:463.155, relative to motor vehicle special prestige plates; to provide for2
creation, issuance, and design of such license plates; to provide relative to the fee and3
distribution of fees for such plates; to authorize promulgation of rules and4
regulations; and to provide for related matters.5
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6
Section 1. R.S. 47:463.155 is hereby enacted to read as follows: 7
ยง463.155.  Special prestige license plate; "Town of Ball 40
th
 Anniversary"8
A. The secretary of the Department of Public Safety and Corrections shall9
establish a special prestige motor vehicle license plate to be known as the "Town of10
Ball 40
th
 Anniversary" plate, provided there is a minimum of one thousand applicants11
for such plates.  These license plates shall be restricted to use on passenger cars,12
pickup trucks, recreational vehicles, and vans.13
B. The secretary shall design the plates, which shall be of a color and design14
selected jointly by the mayor and aldermen of the town of Ball, Louisiana, provided15
that it is in compliance with R.S. 47:463(A)(3).16
C. The prestige license plate shall be issued, upon application, to any citizen17
of Louisiana in the same manner as any other motor vehicle license plate.18
D. The department shall collect an annual royalty fee of twenty-five dollars,19
which shall be disbursed in accordance with Subsection E of this Section. This fee20 HLS 12RS-1130	ORIGINAL

shall be in addition to the standard motor vehicle license tax imposed by Article VII,1
Section 5 of the Constitution of Louisiana, and a handling fee of three dollars and2
fifty cents for each plate to be retained by the department to offset a portion of3
administrative costs.4
E. The annual royalty fee shall be collected by the department and forwarded5
to the town of Ball, Louisiana.  The monies received from the royalty fees shall be6
used solely for public purposes.7
F. The secretary shall adopt rules and regulations as are necessary to8
implement the provisions of this Section.9

a handling fee of $3.50 to be retained by the department.
Proposed law provides that the secretary shall adopt rules and regulations to implement the
provisions provided in proposed law.
