Henry Burns	HB No. 883
Abstract: Authorizes the Board of Regents to increase, by up to $750, the licensure fees for
postsecondary, academic degree-granting institutions.
Present law requires any postsecondary, academic degree-granting institution operating or
proposing to initiate operations in Louisiana to be licensed by the Board of Regents.
Provides that licensure may be required biennially and may be granted for a period not to
exceed 10 years.
Present law required the Board of Regents, prior to April 1, 1992, to establish licensure fees
and adopt procedures for collecting and expending such fees.
Proposed law, effective Sept. 1, 2012, authorizes the Board of Regents to increase, by up to
$750, the licensure fees previously established pursuant to present law. Authorizes board
action as necessary to provide for such an increase to be effective on and after Sept. 1, 2012.
Effective upon signature of governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action.
