Regular Session, 2012 HOUSE BILL NO. 892 BY REPRESENTATIVE HODGES INSURANCE: Provide for car hauler insurance requirements AN ACT1 To amend and reenact R.S. 32:1715(C)(1), relative to motor vehicles; to provide that certain2 operators of car carriers are not required to have certain license plates or insurance;3 and to provide for related matters.4 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5 Section 1. R.S. 32:1715(C)(1) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:6 ยง1715. Towing of motor vehicles in the state of Louisiana7 * * *8 C. Present law provides that it is unlawful for any tow truck or carrier to tow or to carry a vehicle on the highway without the towing vehicle or carrier having a towing license plate and complying with certain laws, including carrying garage keeper's legal liability and garage liability insurance. Present law provides for exemptions from present law. Proposed law adds that car carriers that are capable of carrying up to four vehicles and have general commercial liability coverage are exempt from present law. (Amends R.S. 32:1715(C)(1))
