SPECIAL DAY/WEEK/MONTH: Recognizes Friday, June 8, 2012, as "A Day of Giving"
and commends volunteers throughout the state
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1
To recognize Friday, June 8, 2012, as "A Day of Giving" and to commend volunteers2
throughout the state of Louisiana.3
WHEREAS, many citizens throughout the state engage in volunteer activities for the4
betterment of the great state of Louisiana; and5
WHEREAS, throughout the history of the Pelican State, citizens have actively6
volunteered their time, talents, and energy to improve their communities and to make the7
state a welcoming place; and8
WHEREAS, countless residents of communities throughout Louisiana enhance the9
quality of life of others by volunteering with service organizations, schools, places of10
worship, hospitals, youth groups, and other organizations that benefit their fellow citizens;11
and12
WHEREAS, the untiring work and dedication of volunteers, while certainly13
appreciated, too often goes without adequate recognition; and14
WHEREAS, the Terrebonne Parish Council has recognized June 8, 2012, as "A Day15
of Giving" in recognition of volunteerism, and it is fitting that citizens statewide follow the16
example of Terrebonne Parish and set aside a special day in celebration of the state's17
volunteers.18
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby19
recognize Friday, June 8, 2012, as "A Day of Giving" and does hereby commend volunteers20 HLS 12RS-3168 ORIGINAL

throughout the state for their dedication to serving the greater good of their communities and1
the state of Louisiana.2
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted3
to the president of Terrebonne Parish.4
