Dept. of Health and Hospitals A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1 To commend Mr. Don Gregory on his thirty-six years of outstanding service and dedication2 to the citizens of the state of Louisiana and to congratulate him on the occasion of3 his retirement from the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals (DHH).4 WHEREAS, Mr. Gregory is a native of Jonesboro, Louisiana; and5 WHEREAS, in 1973, Mr. Gregory received his bachelor's degree in management6 from Louisiana Tech University; and7 WHEREAS, in 1976, Mr. Gregory began his service to the state of Louisiana in8 DHH's Medicaid program; and9 WHEREAS, Mr. Gregory subsequently held several positions within the state10 Medicaid program, including program integrity section chief, a position he held for ten11 years, as well as director of field operations and deputy Medicaid director; and12 WHEREAS, in the ensuing years, Mr. Gregory's wealth of knowledge, innovative13 ideas, and expertise led to other executive management positions within the department; and14 WHEREAS, in 2009, Mr. Gregory was appointed to the position of deputy assistant15 secretary in the office of aging and adult services within DHH; and 16 WHEREAS, Mr. Gregory currently serves as the Medicaid director for DHH; and17 WHEREAS, in that position, Mr. Gregory has provided DHH and the Medicaid18 program with dedicated service that has resulted in a substantial increase in the availability19 and accessibility of health care for Louisiana citizens; and20 HLS 12RS-3451 ORIGINAL HCR NO. 121 Page 2 of 3 WHEREAS, Mr. Gregory's leadership was essential to the expansion of Louisiana1 Medicaid to include more Louisiana citizens and more efficient delivery of medical services2 to those in need; and 3 WHEREAS, in addition to his duties at DHH, Mr. Gregory served for nine years as4 chairman of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services' (CMS) Fraud and Abuse5 Control Technical Advisory Group (TAG), having been appointed to this position by the6 National Association of State Medicaid Directors; and7 WHEREAS, this group exists to advise the Medicaid directors and CMS on matters8 related to fraud and abuse control; and9 WHEREAS, Mr. Gregory is also the past president of the National Association of10 Program Integrity Officials, which is an association of state Medicaid program integrity11 officials; and12 WHEREAS, Mr. Gregory has been married for thirty-nine years to the former Vickie13 Wyatt, and they have two grown daughters, Angela and Julie; and14 WHEREAS, Mr. Gregory has not only dedicated his life to bettering the health and15 welfare of the citizens of Louisiana, but he has also touched the lives of those who have been16 privileged to learn from, work with, and know him; and17 WHEREAS, although he is retiring, his impact on the health and welfare systems of18 Louisiana will continue for many years to come, and he will be sorely missed.19 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby20 acknowledge with gratitude and commend Don Gregory for his outstanding service of thirty-21 six years to the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals and to the citizens of22 Louisiana and congratulate and wish him well on the occasion of his retirement.23 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted24 to Don Gregory.25 HLS 12RS-3451 ORIGINAL HCR NO. 121 Page 3 of 3 DIGEST The digest printed below was prepared by House Legislative Services.
