HLS 12RS-1418 ORIGINAL Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2012 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 136 BY REPRESENTATIVE ORTEGO HIGHWAYS: Requests a study to develop viable conceptual alternatives for frontage roads in the state of La. A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1 To urge and request the Department of Transportation and Development to conduct a study2 relative to the potential of frontage roads being constructed adjacent to interstate3 roadways and or urban arterials.4 WHEREAS, the concepts evaluated should include but not be limited to: two-way5 frontage road systems with diamond ramp configurations at the interchanges, one-way6 frontage road systems with diamond ramp configurations at the interchanges, and one-way7 frontage road systems with X-style ramp configurations for the interchanges; and8 WHEREAS, the study shall evaluate the feasibility of implementing one or more of9 the three frontage road concepts and;10 WHEREAS, these frontage road systems have been implemented nationwide to11 reduce daily transportation delays and improve travel speed.12 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby13 urge and request that the Department of Transportation and Development conduct a study14 relative to the development of viable conceptual alternatives for frontage roads.15 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this study should include an examination of16 other states policies and experiences as it regulates to land development, tax impacts, traffic17 operations, and traffic level of services for each of the alternates considered.18 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this study be conducted by the department prior19 to December 31, 2012, and a report of its findings be presented to the House Committee on20 Transportation, Highways and Public Works and the Senate Committee on Transportation,21 HLS 12RS-1418 ORIGINAL HCR NO. 136 Page 2 of 2 Highways and Public Works thirty days prior to the convening of the 2013 Regular Session1 of the Legislature of Louisiana.2 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the3 secretary of the Department of Transportation and Development.4 DIGEST The digest printed below was prepared by House Legislative Services.
