BY REPRESENTATIVE BURFORD AND SENATOR BUFFI NGTON
CONDOLENCES: Expresses condolences upon the death of Jerry Moncrief of DeSoto
Parish
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1
To express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the death of Jerry Moncrief of DeSoto2
Parish.3
WHEREAS, it is with deep regret and profound sorrow that the members of the4
Louisiana Legislature have learned of the death of Jerry Moncrief on Monday, May 7, 2012,5
at the age of sixty-two; and6
WHEREAS, Jerry Moncrief was born November 23, 1949, and attended Fair Park7
High School, where he met his devoted and loving wife, Dolly, at the age of sixteen; and8
WHEREAS, Mr. Moncrief studied at Louisiana State University at Shreveport before9
serving his country with great valor and fortitude in the United States Air Force during the10
Vietnam War; and11
WHEREAS, after the war, Mr. Moncrief worked at Libbey Glass before leaving to12
become a self-employed insurance salesman and owner and operator of a golf memorabilia13
company; and  14
WHEREAS, Mr. Moncrief moved to his family homestead in DeSoto Parish in 199915
and was elected as a police juror in 2007; and16
WHEREAS, Mr. Moncrief served the people of DeSoto Parish as a police juror with17
great distinction until his passing; and18
WHEREAS, Mr. Moncrief is survived by his wife of forty-three years, Dolly19
Moncrief; three daughters, Dawn Edwards and husband Alan, Carmen Toner and husband20
Bob, and Suzie Albright and husband Luke; five grandchildren, Canaan, Veronica, Noah,21 HLS 12RS-4003	ORIGINAL

Berlyn, and Elijah; brother, Michael Moncrief and wife Judy; sister-in-law Denise Tynes;1
brother-in-law Jack D. Owen, Jr., and wife Meme; and several nieces and nephews; and2
WHEREAS, Mr. Moncrief was the kind of citizen who represents what is good about3
DeSoto Parish, the state of Louisiana, and the United States of America; he used his talents,4
integrity, and passion for his community, state, and nation to change them for the better; and5
WHEREAS, Mr. Moncrief will forever be respected and remembered by his fellow6
citizens for his singular contributions as a public servant and for his steadfast commitment7
to his family and friends, DeSoto Parish, the state of Louisiana, and the United States of8
America.9
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby10
express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the death of Jerry Moncrief of DeSoto Parish,11
does hereby recognize that his death has left a great void and created a genuine sense of12
sorrow in the many citizens whose lives he touched, and does hereby record for posterity13
enduring appreciation for his outstanding contributions and achievements.14
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted15
to the family of Jerry Moncrief.16
