HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 139

COMMENDATIONS: Commends the Barman's Fund New Orleans for its charitable
contributions
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1
To commend the Barman's Fund New Orleans for its charitable contributions.2
WHEREAS, in December of 2011, the Barman's Fund New Orleans was organized3
by Holly Williams, who was inspired by friends who established a Barman's Fund in New4
York; and5
WHEREAS, the Barman's Fund New Orleans is made possible by bartenders in the6
Crescent City who donate tips to local charities, nonprofit organizations, and schools; and7
WHEREAS, organizations which have benefitted from the generosity of the8
Barman's Fund New Orleans include the New Orleans Women's Shelter, the New Orleans9
Faith Health Alliance, Raintree Children and Family Services, Hagar's House, the New10
Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity, A Child's Wish, and the Second Harvest Food Bank,11
among others, and donations from the fund have also gone toward worthy classroom projects12
in area schools; and13
WHEREAS, since its establishment, the Barman's Fund New Orleans has raised14
more than sixteen thousand dollars to help meet the needs of the citizens of the New Orleans15
area; and16
WHEREAS, the heartfelt generosity displayed by the Barman's Fund New Orleans17
is a shining example of the spirit of New Orleans in which all citizens of Louisiana take18

WHEREAS, the Barman's Fund New Orleans merits a special measure of1
commendation for the tremendous honor it brings to the city of New Orleans and the state2
of Louisiana.3
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby4
commend the Barman's Fund New Orleans for its charitable contributions, does hereby5
extend enduring appreciation for the difference its participants are making in the lives of6
their fellow citizens, and does hereby extend to these kindhearted and unselfish individuals7
best wishes for continued success in their future endeavors.8
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted9
to Holly Williams.10
