COMMENDATIONS:  Commends General Bennett C. Landreneau upon his retirement
from the La. National Guard
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1
To commend General Bennett C. Landreneau upon his retirement from the Louisiana2
National Guard.3
WHEREAS, upon his retirement from the Louisiana National Guard in December4
of 2011, it is appropriate that a sincere and heartfelt measure of commendation and5
appreciation be expressed to General Bennett C. Landreneau for his extraordinary military6
service; and7
WHEREAS, General Landreneau consistently demonstrated his dedicated spirit and8
intense determination to serve the Louisiana National Guard with honor and distinction; and9
WHEREAS, the General began his military career in 1969 upon his enlistment in the10
Louisiana National Guard as an infantryman, and he was commissioned an ordinance officer11
in 1971; he transferred to the Engineer Branch in 1973, and during Operation Desert Storm,12
he served on active duty as Commander, 527th Engineer Battalion, in Southwest Asia; he13
later served as Commander of the 225th Engineer Group and as Commander of the 256th14
Separate Infantry Brigade (Mechanized) prior to his appointment as the Adjutant General15
of Louisiana; and16
WHEREAS, as Adjutant General, General Landreneau was responsible for the17
deployment and coordination of programs, policies, and plans affecting the more than eleven18
thousand members of the Louisiana Army and Air National Guard; and19
WHEREAS, General Landreneau has been the deserving recipient of numerous20
awards and decorations, including the Legion of Merit (with one Oak Leaf Cluster), the21 HLS 12RS-122	ORIGINAL

Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service Medal (with one Oak Leaf Cluster), the Army1
Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the Army Reserve Components2
Achievement Medal (with one Silver Oak Leaf Cluster), the National Defense Service3
Medal, the Southwest Asia Service Medal (with two Bronze Service Stars), the4
Humanitarian Service Ribbon, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal, the Army Service Ribbon,5
the Army Reserve Components Overseas Training Ribbon (with Numeral One), the Kuwait6
Liberation Medal (Saudi Arabia), and the Kuwait Liberation Medal (Emirate of Kuwait); and7
WHEREAS, the tenure of General Landreneau as Adjutant General was marked by8
effective leadership, genuine professionalism, and remarkable vision during some of the9
most challenging times in the state's history; and10
WHEREAS, General Landreneau merits the highest commendation and sincere11
congratulations for his exemplary term of military service and for his outstanding12
contributions to the Louisiana National Guard, the state of Louisiana, and the United States13
of America.14
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby15
commend and congratulate General Bennett C. Landreneau upon his retirement from the16
Louisiana National Guard for an exceptional military career that spans more than four17
decades, does hereby express to him enduring appreciation for his distinguished service,18
including fourteen years as Adjutant General, does hereby recognize and record for posterity19
his vital contributions and tireless dedication to military excellence, and does hereby extend20
to him best wishes for continued success and happiness in all of his future endeavors.21
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted22
to General Bennett C. Landreneau.23
