COMMENDATIONS: Commends Vickey Thrash upon her retirement as principal of
Benton High School after nearly three decades of service with the Bossier Parish
School System
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1
To commend Vickey Thrash upon her retirement as principal of Benton High School after2
nearly three decades of service with the Bossier Parish School System and to3
recognize and record her myriad accomplishments and contributions.4
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend Vickey Thrash for a long and5
distinguished career in education; and6
WHEREAS, for twenty-eight years, Mrs. Thrash has been serving with great7
dedication and effectiveness as an educator with the Bossier Parish School System; and8
WHEREAS, during her exceptional career with the school system, Mrs. Thrash has9
served in a variety of vital positions, including three years as principal at Benton High10
School, which followed seven years as the school's assistant principal, and eighteen years11
as a teacher at Airline High School, where she taught English and social studies; and12
WHEREAS, while teaching at Airline High School, Mrs. Benton earned a master's13
degree at Louisiana Tech University; and 14
WHEREAS, Mrs. Thrash is widely respected and admired for not only her excellence15
as an educator but for her unwavering generosity, kindness, compassion, and ability to16
inspire young people to follow their dreams; and17
WHEREAS, Mrs. Thrash has earned the enduring appreciation of many for the18

of students into informed, capable, and productive citizens of their community and the1
world; and2
WHEREAS, Vickey Thrash merits a special measure of commendation for her3
outstanding accomplishments in education and for the pride and honor she brings to the4
countless students whose lives she has touched, to Benton and Airline high schools, to5
Bossier Parish, and to the state of Louisiana. 6
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby7
commend Vickey Thrash upon her retirement as principal of Benton High School after8
nearly three decades of dedicated and highly productive service with the Bossier Parish9
School System, does hereby recognize and record her notable achievements and manifold10
contributions to the school system and to her students, colleagues, family, friends, and11
community, and does hereby extend to this wonderful educator best wishes as she embarks12
upon new challenges and endeavors. 13
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted14
to Vickey Thrash.15
