COMMENDATIONS: Commends the Ragin' Cajuns of ULL upon winning the 2011 New
Orleans Bowl
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1
To commend the Ragin' Cajuns of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette upon winning the2
2011 New Orleans Bowl.3
WHEREAS, on Saturday, December 17, 2011, our hearts and minds were in New4
Orleans, Louisiana, where we experienced the conclusion of a fantastically enjoyable season5
and witnessed the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (ULL) Ragin' Cajuns handily defeat6
the San Diego State Aztecs 32-30 in the 2011 New Orleans Bowl; and7
WHEREAS, on this great day, before a national television audience and a record8
crowd of 42,841 fans at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, ULL made its first appearance in9
a bowl game since 1970; and10
WHEREAS, the 2011 Ragin' Cajuns' win in the New Orleans Bowl improved ULL's11
all-time record in bowl games to 2-1; and12
WHEREAS, Coach Mark Hudspeth and his team exhibited tremendous13
competitiveness and spirit in finishing the amazing 2011 season with an overall record of14
9-4, tying ULL's school record for most wins in a season; and15
WHEREAS, the Ragin' Cajuns' 5-0 record at home marked the first undefeated16
season since 1987; and17
WHEREAS, the remarkable talents and determination of every player on the 201118
ULL football team led to this outstanding season and its culmination in victory at the New19
Orleans Bowl, but special recognition is deserved by quarterback, Blaine Gautier, whose20 HLS 12RS-1309 ORIGINAL

New Orleans Bowl record four hundred seventy yards passing earned him the Most Valuable1
Player award in the contest; and2
WHEREAS, this incredible victory is an indelible part of an extraordinary era in the3
history of ULL football and created a memory that will forever be cherished by ULL fans4
in generations to come; and5
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to recognize and express enduring appreciation for the6
immense pride and honor that the 2011 ULL Ragin' Cajuns football team has brought to the7
state of Louisiana.8
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby9
recognize the magnificent performance of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Ragin'10
Cajuns during the 2011 season and their success in the New Orleans Bowl and does hereby11
commend and congratulate the players, the coaching staff, and the entire ULL football12
family upon this historic victory.13
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted14
to Coach Mark Hudspeth.15
