HLS 12RS-1491 ORIGINAL Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2012 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 43 BY REPRESENTATIVE BARRAS COMMENDATIONS: Commends Don de Mahy on being a finalist for the National Merit Scholarship A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1 To commend Don de Mahy upon being named a National Merit Finalist.2 WHEREAS, it is with great pride that the Legislature of Louisiana recognizes the3 accomplishments of one of the state's most academically gifted sons; and4 WHEREAS, Mr. de Mahy earned the title of National Merit Finalist as a result of his5 qualifying test score, which was one of the highest in the state of Louisiana; and6 WHEREAS, Mr. de Mahy is one of only about fifteen thousand students in the7 country to be named a National Merit Finalist; and8 WHEREAS, Don de Mahy is a senior at Catholic High School in New Iberia, where9 he has maintained a 4.0 grade point average; and10 WHEREAS, although Mr. de Mahy aspires to be his class's valedictorian, he also11 endeavors to serve those less fortunate; last year he set aside time to travel to Guatemala on12 a mission trip to build rain gutters; and13 WHEREAS, Mr. de Mahy merits a special measure of commendation for his14 outstanding achievements as a student and citizen.15 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby16 commend Don de Mahy for being named a National Merit Finalist, does hereby commend17 Mr. de Mahy for his outstanding accomplishments, and does hereby extend to him best18 wishes for full measures of success and happiness in all of his future endeavors.19 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted20 to Don de Mahy.21 HLS 12RS-1491 ORIGINAL HCR NO. 43 Page 2 of 2 DIGEST The digest printed below was prepared by House Legislative Services.
