COMMENDATIONS: Commends the Peabody Magnet High School boys basketball team
upon winning the Class 4A state championship
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1
To commend the Peabody Magnet High School boys basketball team upon winning the 20122
Class 4A state championship.3
WHEREAS, the Peabody Magnet High School boys basketball team completed a4
sensational season, earning the title of 2012 Class 4A state champions after defeating St.5
Augustine High School by a score of 58-41 to win the state championship game at the6
Thomas Assembly Center in Ruston on Saturday, March 10, 2012; and7
WHEREAS, the championship win was the seventh state basketball championship8
for the Warhorses and the culmination of another unforgettable season; and 9
WHEREAS, the members of the team performed at the highest level of excellence10
throughout the season and playoffs, and each of these great Warhorses deserves recognition11
for his vital contribution to the winning effort; and12
WHEREAS, the Warhorses were led by senior Dee Wagner, who scored twenty13
points and was named Most Valuable Player of the championship game; and14
WHEREAS, the amazing accomplishments of the team could not have been achieved15
without the guidance and skills of head coach Charles Smith as well as all of the other16
individuals who have contributed to the success of the school's basketball program; and 17
WHEREAS, the team's outstanding 2011-2012 season upholds the glorious tradition18
of the Warhorses, and all Peabody Magnet High School alumni and fans recognize the19
immense pride and distinguished honor that the team brings to its school, community, and20

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby1
commend the Peabody Magnet High School boys basketball team upon winning the 20122
Class 4A state championship and does hereby extend best wishes to the players, coaches, and3
everyone involved with this fine basketball program as they celebrate their exceptional4
season and prepare for continued success in the future.5
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted6
to Charles Smith, head coach of the Peabody Magnet High School boys basketball team, and7
Lee Dotson, principal of Peabody Magnet High School.8
