HLS 12RS-1692 ORIGINAL Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2012 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 58 BY REPRESENTATIVE NORTON LEGISLATIVE AFFAIRS: Requires the legislature to recognize on the legislative website the sacrifices of our Armed Forces in Iraq A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1 To direct the presiding officers of the Legislature of Louisiana to ensure that appropriate2 recognition of the sacrifices of Louisianians who have served as members of the3 Armed Forces of the United States in Iraq be displayed on the website of the4 legislature.5 WHEREAS, thousands of brave, patriotic Louisianians have served the United States6 of America with distinction and great personal sacrifice as members of the Armed Forces7 of the United States in Iraq; and8 WHEREAS, now that their mission has been accomplished and all combat soldiers9 have been withdrawn from Iraq, it is appropriate for the State of Louisiana to formally10 recognize the service to our nation of these brave Louisianians.11 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby12 formally recognize the sacrifices of the soldiers, sailors, airmen, marines, and coast13 guardsmen from Louisiana who served so bravely as servicemen of the United States Armed14 Forces in Iraq, some of whom never returned or returned home permanently scarred15 physically and mentally.16 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby17 encourage all its citizens, parishes, cities, and businesses to collectively organize and18 sponsor such honorable recognitions as parades and other public events on behalf of our19 active military and veterans.20 HLS 12RS-1692 ORIGINAL HCR NO. 58 Page 2 of 2 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby direct1 the presiding officers of the legislature to ensure that appropriate recognition of the sacrifices2 of Louisianians who have served as members of the Armed Forces of the United States in3 Iraq be displayed on the website of the legislature.4 DIGEST The digest printed below was prepared by House Legislative Services.
