HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 72
BY REPRESENTATIVE SEABAUGH AND SENATOR PEACOCK
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON
To commend Ruth Bishop of Caddo Magnet High School upon being named the Caddo
Public Schools 2012 High School Student of the Year and to recognize her
extraordinary accomplishments.
WHEREAS, it is with great pride that the Legislature of Louisiana recognizes the
energy, intelligence, and self-motivation of Ruth Bishop, a true leader and role model among
her peers; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Bishop's dedication to academic achievement and drive to do her
best at all times are evident in her membership in the Gifted & Talented and the Talented
Arts Programs at Caddo Magnet High School; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Bishop is one of ten participants in the SMART Program and has
held several class, student government, and club offices; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Bishop has received numerous honors, including being an
Advanced Placement Scholar, receiving an Independence Bowl Service Scholarship, and
being named a Comcast Leader and Achiever; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Bishop is active as a lay minister in her church and has developed
community service projects to benefit senior citizens, homeless children, and those with
developmental disorders; and
WHEREAS, in addition to being an outstanding student and community leader,
Ms. Bishop is an artist, a published poet, and an accomplished pianist; and
WHEREAS, Ruth Bishop is a talented Louisiana student who demonstrates
impeccable leadership and a commitment to excellence that is truly commendable, without
a doubt meriting receipt of the Caddo Public Schools 2012 High School Student of the Year

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
commend Ruth Bishop upon being named the Caddo Public Schools 2012 High School
Student of the Year, does hereby recognize her remarkable academic, artistic, and civic
accomplishments, does hereby wish Ms. Bishop full measures of success and happiness in
the years to come, and does hereby hope that she continues upon her current trajectory so
that a future resolution may be written to commend her for the honor that she will
undoubtedly continue to bestow upon the state of Louisiana.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to Ruth Bishop of Caddo Parish.
