U.S.:  Requests that the U.S. Postal Service consider assigning a new zip code to the town
of Richwood in Ouachita Parish
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1
To urge and request the United States Postal Service to consider assigning a new zip code2
to the town of Richwood in Ouachita Parish.3
WHEREAS, the town of Richwood in Ouachita Parish shares a zip code with one4
used throughout the metropolitan Monroe area; and5
WHEREAS, when zip code boundaries are not aligned with municipal boundaries,6
there is potential for citizens to face higher home and automobile insurance rates, for7
confusion with respect to voter registration, and for misdirected property and sales tax8
revenues, among other problems; and9
WHEREAS, the assignment of a new zip code for use in the town of Richwood10
might reduce the potential for such problems; and11
WHEREAS, additionally, having a unique zip code might grant the citizens of the12
town of Richwood a stronger sense of independence and identity.13
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby14
urge and request the United States Postal Service to consider assigning a new zip code to the15
town of Richwood in Ouachita Parish.16
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the17
